Enzymes' functions
Amylase
- Breaks down carbohydrates such as starch and glycogen, contained in potatoes, fruits, vegetables, and many snack foods.
- Measured in DU (Dextrinizing Units)
Cellulase
- Breaks down cellulose and chitin, helps to break down the soluble parts of fiber contained in raw fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
- Cellulase is not made in the body and can only be obtained from the food or supplements.
- Measured in CU (Cellulose Units)
Glucoamylase
- Breaks down polysaccharides in glucose units
- Measured in AGU (Amiloglucosidase Units)
Lactase
- Breaksdown milk sugar lactose
- Supports optimal Digestion of lactose*
- Measured in ALU (Acid Lactase Units)
Lipase
- Breaks down lipids found in meats, oil, nuts, and seeds.
- Improves fat utilization*
- Measured in FIP or LU (Lipase Units)
Protease
- Breaks down proteins found in meats, cheese, nuts, and eggs.
- Assists in alleviating infection and inflammatory conditions of many kinds*
- Measured in HUT (Hemoglobin Units)
Pectinase
- Breaksdown carbohydrates such as pectin found in many fruits and vegetables
- Measured in endo-PGU()
