Enzymes' functions

Amylase

  • Breaks down carbohydrates such as starch and glycogen, contained in potatoes, fruits, vegetables, and many snack foods.
  • Measured in DU (Dextrinizing Units)

Cellulase

  • Breaks down cellulose and chitin, helps to break down the soluble parts of fiber contained in raw fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Cellulase is not made in the body and can only be obtained from the food or supplements.
  • Measured in CU (Cellulose Units)

Glucoamylase

  • Breaks down polysaccharides in glucose units
  • Measured in AGU (Amiloglucosidase Units)

Lactase

  • Breaksdown milk sugar lactose
  • Supports optimal Digestion of lactose*
  • Measured in ALU (Acid Lactase Units)

Lipase

  • Breaks down lipids found in meats, oil, nuts, and seeds.
  • Improves fat utilization*
  • Measured in FIP or LU (Lipase Units)

Protease

  • Breaks down proteins found in meats, cheese, nuts, and eggs.
  • Assists in alleviating infection and inflammatory conditions of many kinds*
  • Measured in HUT (Hemoglobin Units)

Pectinase

  • Breaksdown carbohydrates such as pectin found in many fruits and vegetables
  • Measured in endo-PGU()
